A four-year Fort Pierce police officer has been arrested on one count of DUI.
The charges stemmed from a DUI investigation conducted by the Port Saint Lucie Police Department, a release by the department said.
According to the arrest report, Ryan Moore, 48, was driving his patrol car in a parking lot and struck another officer’s vehicle.
Moore was treated by fire rescue and transported to an area hospital for evaluation. While questioned at the hospital, investigators noted the smell of alcohol and that Moore’s eyes were “extremely bloodshot,” the report said.
The report added that Moore’s speech was mumbled and “he had a general confused look on his face which was also flushed.”
A toxicology test indicated that Moore was in excess of the legal limit.
Chief Baldwin stated in a release, “Driving under the influence represents a deadly danger, and our officers are dedicated to protecting our community from this danger. As with any DUI arrest, this case will be referred to the State Attorney’s Office for prosecution.”
Moore was booked into the Saint Lucie County Jail and was released on $750 bond.
He was placed on administrative leave with pay pending judicial review of the charge.
