There is nothing more dangerous for slow-moving manatees than watercraft, and the combination again proved deadly off the coast of Palm Beach County.
A 10-year-old, 1,100-pound female manatee was found Monday morning washed ashore at Ocean Reef Park in Riviera Beach after it was struck and killed by a boat, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee.
